AUGUST 2008 EVENTS
Friday, August 1: FIRST FRIDAY SINGLES DINNER, 6:30 PM
This is a JOINT event between Spiritual Singles and the Singles Federation, which consists of several social and church singles groups in Northern Virginia. This dinner will be hosted by Joe Scheibeler and will be held at Glory Days Grill in Fairfax, Virginia. Pre-dinner gathering at the bar for cocktails starts at 6:30PM after which the group will be seated for dinner starting at 7PM. This should be another wonderful opportunity to meet new people.

From the I-495 Capital Beltway heading south - take exit 49 I-66 westbound about 2 1/2 miles to Nutley St., exit 62 southbound toward Fairfax. Drive about 1 1/2 miles south to Glory Days Grill. LOCATION: Springfield, VA
From the I-495 Capital Beltway heading north - take exit 50 Arlington Blvd. (US-50 west) about 3 miles to Nutley St. and turn right. Drive about 1/2 mile north to Glory Days Grill.
FEE: Only cost is for food, (optional) drinks for members of Spiritual Singles and the other singles groups, as well as non-members.
Friday, August 8: FREEDOM IN PRISON - THE INVITATION OF SELF-INQUIRY , 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM
True freedom and peace are that which abide in the core of every human heart. Freedom is who you are. This is the message that Gangaji shares. She offers the invitation to discover lasting fulfillment for oneself through direct Self-inquiry. This video presents Gangaji's teachings and introduces three men who awakened to true freedom while in prison. Each of these men came to realize what lies beyond personal circumstance. Through the recognition of who one truly is, they directly experienced that no situation can get in the way of freedom. This evening will include sitting in silence, watching this video of Gangaji, sharing our revelations, and socializing.
FOOD: Please bring a healthy snack. Herbal teas will be provided - feel free to bring your own drink.

Friday, August 22: "SPRING, SUMMER, FALL, WINTER ... SPRING" - MOVIE NIGHT, 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM
This exquisitely filmed drama directed by Kim Ki-duk is entirely set on and around a tree-lined lake where a tiny Buddhist monastery floats on a raft amidst a breathtaking landscape. The story is divided into five segments, with each season representing a stage in a man's life. Under the vigilant eyes of Old Monk, Child Monk learns a hard lesson about the nature of sorrow when some of his childish games turn cruel. (Rated - R for violence and graphic sexuality; 103 minutes; in Korean with English subtitles; 2004)
This should be an interesting evening that will also include sitting in silence, sharing our responses, and socializing.
